Actress Geena Davis has a new weapon in her arsenal for her decades-long battle against gender inequality in Hollywood. At a global symposium in New York City on Thursday, she unveiled the Geena Davis Inclusion Quotient (or GD-IQ). The new tool, sponsored by Google and crafted at the University of Southern California, can track how often women appear on screen, how much they talk and the quality of their dialogue. The GD-IQ uses automated technology that is faster and more effective than human coders to determine whether or not our media is truly providing a balanced portrait of the populace and where there is room for improvement.
