Michael Fassbender is doing his part to bring the fan favorite Assassin's Creed series to life on the big screen, and a new photo showing the actor in action has surfaced from the set.
In the newest issue of Total Film (via GamesRadar), Fassbender can be seen on horseback, though the car with the crane-like camera mount riding alongside him will probably not make the final cut, as there was a distinct lack of Volkswagons during the 15th century. At least, that's what the templars want you to think.
The just released issue will also feature interviews with director Justin Kurzel, Fassbender, Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons, and you can view the new photo in the gallery.
The photos released thus are clearly evocative of the original games, and Fassbender, Cotillard, Irons, and the rest of the cast certainly have the acting chops to pull it off. If they can break down the somewhat convoluted Assassin's Creed lore into something a bit more streamlined, the studio could have a hit franchise on its hands.
While main characters like Ezio and Altair are very unlikely to show up in the first film, weapon designer Tim Wildgoose did confirm that there will be a few characters straight from the games.
"At the same time, there are assassins from the games in the film as well. In some case, we could directly copy the Ubisoft weapons onto their characters," Wildgoose said. "There?s basically a few assassins taken straight from the games, who we get to see in the films. We actually get to use some of the real game weapons in there."
