Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Institute is at the center of public scrutiny after the institute took a large donation from Jynwel Foundation, which is linked to a "wide-ranging fraud and embezzlement case." De Niro told The Hollywood Reporter that he "didn't know' how much the foundation donated to his film school. When De Niro was questioned about his connection the foundation, he didn't seem too concerned, saying, ?I don?t care whether my name is associated with it. I didn?t do anything." He's also stated that the institute would return the donation if it needed to.
