A Jay-Z song has become a running theme at the 2016 Emmys, with multiple award winners thanking their significant others by using the rapper's lyrics. The line being repeated, which comes from Jay-Z's 2003 Black Album , is "I got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain," which is a reference to his relationship with Beyonce. Simpson: American Crime Story , was the first one to mention the song. His co-star Courtney B. Vance, who won for his own performance in the series as Johnnie Cochran, repeated the line, thanking his own wife.
