Rapper Kendrick Lamar was honored with the Lyricist of the Year award at the 11th annual BET Hip-Hop Awards on Saturday night. While claiming the prize, Lamar praised Snoop Dogg, who was the recipient of the "I Am Hip Hop Award" earlier in the night. He said Snoop Dogg "paved a way into many hearts" as a hip-hop artist. Lamar also told the crowd that he believes music is one of the best ways to bring people together. Other awards included the Hustler of the Year, which went to DJ Khaled, and Best New Hip-Hop Artist, which went to Chance the Rapper.
