In the sci-fi thriller, Arrival, Amy Adams plays Dr. Louise Banks, a linguist who's hired by the U.S. military to decipher the language of alien visitors. The aliens have set up camp in Montana as well as 11 other locations around the world. Adams and her team, played by Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, work to figure out why the aliens are visiting the planet and if they pose a threat. Adams said she was drawn to the role because of Dr. Banks' character is a well-rounded intelligent female.
