At the Video Music Awards on August 28th, MTV will present Rihanna with a lifetime achievement award, which was given to Kanye West last year. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award is one of the highest honors in the music industry and reflects an artist's contribution to music, pop culture, fashion, and philanthropy. Previous winners include Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake. Rihanna will also perform at the VMAs where she is nominated for four awards.
