VIDEO : New Star Trek Series On CBS Promises To Be Diverse

Celebrity in this news:

CBS will be launching a new Star Trek series called "Discovery" and the network wants you to know it will be diverse. CBS has taken some flack for it's lack of color on the fall schedule so the executive producer, Bryan Fuller of Discovery went on record to say all sorts of colors and species and sexes will be in the new series. Fuller stated, ""'Star Trek' started with a wonderful expression of diversity in its cast. You had a Russian with a black woman and an Asian man amongst a Vulcan, which is a different kind of diversity," Fuller expressed at a Q&A for the show at the Television Critics Association press tour. "We're absolutely continuing that tradition." The new Star Trek will take place ten years before Captain Kirk's mission so it will bridge the gap between the original show and J.J. Abrams' movie franchise.
