Colson Whitehead's "The Underground Railroad" is Oprah Winfrey's newest book club pick. The book is historical fiction that imagines the escape of slaves to freedom on an actual underground train. Winfrey said she was "blown away" within the first sentence and knew right away that she would want to share the book with her club. The book was scheduled for a September release but Doubleday pushed up the release date to Tuesday after learning that Winfrey had selected it for her book club. The Underground Railroad is Whitehead's sixth novel.
