The 2012 Guy Pearce-fronted action flick Lockout has a plot very similar to The 1981 John Carpenter cult classic Escape from New York. Lockout was a dud both financially and critically. It?s a film most would forget about, but writer and producer Luc Besson can?t forget since he was sued by carpenter for plagiarism. Last fall, a court ruled in Carpenter?s favor, ordering Besson to pay nearly $95,000. Besson filed an appeal, which turned out to be a major mistake.
