According to The Hollywood Reporter, Idina Menzel is gearing up to take on the Bette Midler role in an upcoming TV movie remake of 1988's "Beaches." Directed by the late Garry Marshall, the original dramedy also starred Barbara Hershey, and grossed $57 million domestically, also earning Midler a Grammy for record and song of the year for "Wind Beneath My Wings," which will be included in the new Lifetime incarnation. Production is set to begin August 15th in Vancouver.
