Zayn Malik announced in March 2015 that he was leaving One Direction to pursue a solo career, turning Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson into a quartet. Malik told Elle Magazine, quote, "At that time in my life I felt I had done everything I could do there and I just needed to change it up," end quote.
Becoming a solo artist proved to be more difficult and Malik said his life has changes so much and that he has finally been able to express what he always wanted to say in his music. Not only is his music more his own, but his wardrobe represents his own style as well.
