According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Ritchie has been tapped to star in NBC's upcoming comedy Great News. The comedy centers on a mother-daughter relationship that is challenged when an overly involved New Jersey mom, played by Andrea Martin, begins interning at her daughter's workplace, a cable news network. Richie herself has been tapped to play the character of Portia, who is described to be a shrewd social media genius and sometimes a clueless idiot. The new role for Ritchie marks her first scripted series-regular television gig following work on reality shows 'The Simple Life' and 'Candidly Nicole' as well as guest appearances on NBC's Chuck and Fox's Empire.
