VIDEO : 'Powerpuff Girls' Has Been Picked Up for a Second Season

The Powerpuff Girls has been renewed for a second season. Cartoon Network officially gave the green light to the animated series, which was revived in April, nearly 18 years after its initial run spawned 78 episodes and a 2002 feature film. The series has already been nominated for an Emmy this year for best short-form animated program. "The Powerpuff Girls is on a momentous run with its first Emmy nod, a debut appearance at one of the biggest fan events of the year and now a second-season greenlight," said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer at Cartoon Network. "Congratulations to the Cartoon Network creative teams who have super-powered this property with the perfect amount of Chemical X to bring a hit show for a new generation of fans."
