The director for Thor: Ragnorak is taking her own twist on the comics behind the movie. Director Taika Waititi decided to bring in a different interpretation than the comics, which show the Asgardian warrior goddess Brunnhilde the Valkyrie is depicted with blonde hair and blue eyes. Waititi decided that Tessa Thompson, who stared in Creed and Westworld, was the best choice for the part. He believed her acting abilities would bring the longest-serving member of the Defenders to life on the big screen. The director said that it was difficult to bring diversity into a movie that was about Vikings, but he decided to broaden his interpretation of the roles to be filled in the movie.
