Star Wars Episode VIII will pick up the story immediately following the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film will forgo the passage of time customary between Star Wars episodes. At Star Wars Celebration Europe director Rian Johnson confirmed the news. He added that Skelling Michael is a very mystical place and would provide just the right surreal atmosphere to begin episode VIII. Of course, when the previous film left off, Rey had just found Luke Skywalker. Skywalker had been in hiding for years since Kylo Ren murdered a number of new Jedi that Luke was training.
