The latest Star Trek film, "Star Trek Beyond," will confirm that one of the Enterprise's main crew members is gay. The character will be Hikaru Sulu, currently played by John Cho and originated by openly gay actor George Takei. Cho revealed to Australia's Herald Sun that not only is Sulu gay but he is married and has a child. According to Cho, the decision came from screenwriter/co-star Simon Pegg and director Justin Lin as a nod to George Takei.
