Jesse Williams, known for his role in Grey's Anatomy, accepted the humanitarian award at the BET Awards, demanding equal rights and an end to the unfair treatment against blacks and an end to the white appropriation of black culture.
Williams said: "What I'd like to see us do is return to a space where it's OK for folks to be proud and outwardly black in public."
With some remarks backstage he mentioned that the fact that they could be at the awards, does not mean that they have made it and that the fight for justice must end. Instead, Williams used his platform to showcase that the fight for equal rights still continues.
