Celebrity in this news:

Over 150 artists, including Jack White, U2, Pearl Jam, Beck, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Trent Reznor are calling for reform of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The Act was initially enacted in 1998, before anyone could dream of the impact that sites like Youtube would have on the music industry. Because of that, the artists argue that "sensible reform that balances the interests of creators with the interests of the companies who exploit music for their financial enrichment" is needed. The artists worry that the Act has allowed Digital tech companies to make huge profits off of their work, while they only see pennies of their profits.
