The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have started out simply with a series of movies ? albeit movies that established decades of superhero lore ? but it has since grown to include television series on both ABC and Netflix.
The differences between a network series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a show meant for a streaming service like Jessica Jones were made glaringly apparent to Melissa Rosenberg, a showrunner on ' Jones', when she was shopping the show to ABC before Netflix eventually picked the show up.
Rosenberg said ABC had a much different idea of what the show would be. In an interview, she said, ?When you have a series that?s on week to week with commercial breaks, it lends itself to the case-of-the-week scenario. It was heavily weighted in that direction. It was bound to be less gritty and raw."
Both fans and Rosenberg herself are glad the series ended up on the less limiting streaming service.
