In the beginning days of Led Zeppelin, the band didn't have many original works and relied heavily on cover songs, including a medley that borrowed a riff from the California band Spirit. Although they used a minor hit from Spirit in their early set list, founder Jimmy Page said he was unaware of an instrumental from the same album that he is now accused of lifting for the intro to Led Zeppelin's 1971 hit, "Stairway to Heaven." Randy Wolfe, guitarist of the band Spirit says the famous opening of "Stairway to Heaven" is originally from his own band's song "Taurus."
