Specifically, he noted that one character from X-Men Apocalypse really stood out as a potential spin-off series character. Singer told the movie magazine that he felt shape-shifting Mystique would make a great stand-alone hero. The character really developed into a battle leader at the end of the film, and he feels that she has potential to keep developing into her own series going forward. However, Jennifer Lawrence, the actress who most recently played Mystique, said that she would be leaving the role after Apocalypse. But Singer said that regardless of who was playing the part, Singer said he thought that Mystique deserved her own films.
