Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might have made a hefty sum at the box office, but it wasn't nearly what Warner Bros. and DC were hoping to bring in.
The film bombed critically and many blamed the story's grim tone and overly-dark visuals.
Recently it is becoming increasingly clear that the stand-alone Aquaman film, set to be released in 2018, won't adopt the same style of Zack Snyder's films, and that Warner Bros. is taking action to ensure that the mistakes of Batman v Superman aren't repeated.
James Wan, the director of Aqauman told Entertainment Weekly, "It won't be very dark," and jokingly said that since the movie is set at the bottom of the ocean he'll have to use "a lot of light."
