Ryan Tedder ended up working with Adele after they got "stuck" in an elevator at the Grammy Awards. Adele told him that she'd been trying to get a hold of him to help her write songs for the record and Tedder was more than happy to do so. Tedder recalled being stuck in the elevator with not only just her, but about 20 balloons She'd just won Best New Artist and Tedder recounted her saying, 'I'm so sorry about the balloons' and then also doing her signature "cackle."
