Stan Lee, the legendary creator of superheroes like the X-Men, Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and others was recognized at Planet Comicon by Kansas City mayor Sly James for his "achievement and dedication to the literary arts.? Mayor James declared May 21, 2016 to be Stan Lee Day in Kansas City. Lee joked that the day was a "fraud" and that "schools will be open." He went on to talk about the current presidential election and his history in the comic industry. The 93-year-old creator has been touring the comic convention circuit this year, announcing that he's making his final appearances in Canada and New York.
