No one was sure if Kesha would perform at the Billboard Music Awards or not. Leading up to the event the singer had changed back and forth several times. To be fair, this decision did not rest in Kesha's hands. Considering the ongoing legal battle between her and her record label, whether she would be allowed to perform was up in the air. However, Kesha was in the end cleared to perform and what a performance it was. While the pop star was instructed not to discuss any of her legal problems with her label, she spoke powerfully through her performance; choosing a soulful version of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe" over her usual upbeat pop music.
