After directing four of the successful Fast & Furious films, director Justin Lin foregoed directing Furious 7 to work on Star Trek Beyond. Recently, actor and star of the franchise, Vin Diesel was asked if Lin would direct the finale, Fast 8. Diesel said ?I?m going to bring him back." Diesel continued to say ?Whenever we had a day off?even on Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday?it was Justin and me working on how far we could take it. Success comes from 10 years of that mentality.? Fast 8 is set to hit theatres in April of 2017.
