Robert Redford send a thank-you note to the city of Newport in Rhode island. Redford recently filmed a movie there . He commended the community for the vision and care it has demonstrated to preserve its historical and culturally significant properties. The letter was reported by The Newport Daily News. Redford is best known for winning best director for "Ordinary People." at the 1981 Academy Awards.
