A Rep for Actress Emma Watson has said she had an offshore company for privacy reasons only. The company, Falling Leaves Ltd., was named in the so-called Panama Papers. The Panama Papers as many know is a series of leaked documents that revealed how some politicians and celebrities hide money. Watson was named in these papers however Watson created the company in the British Virgin Islands three years ago in which her Rep said is "for the sole purpose of protecting her anonymity and safety,". According to her Representative UK companies are required to publicly publish details of their shareholders and therefore do not give her the necessary anonymity she needs for personal safety. an offshore account or company is not illegal however it does make it easier to evade taxes.
