VIDEO : GLAAD says LGBT inclusion the same, diversity is down

It's been a rough few months for diversity in film. The Gay and Lesbian media association GLAAD released its annual survey showing the number of LGBT people on screen throughout the year. Just 17.5% of movies that came out in 2015 had a leading character who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender, the same number of last year. And the number of LGBT people of color actually dropped from over 30% to 25% in 2015. This study adds to the pile of evidence that led to an Oscars boycott and the use of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite after the academy awards failed to nominate a single actor of color for any of their top performance awards. GLAAD"s CEO warned, ""The film industry must embrace new and inclusive stories if it wants to remain competitive and relevant."
