So far, Tom Clancy's hit character Jack Ryan has 20 books and 5 films. The character was most recently portrayed by Star Trek star Chris Pine in a theatrical release. But Amazon Studios recently purchased the rights to make a TV series out of the franchise, a first for this particular Clancy property. And it will star The Office's John Krasinski. The popular CIA hero gets a series that is only loosely based on the books, using them more as "source material" according to a recently released memo.
