According to actor and director Jon Favreau, who is largely credited for kicking off the modern super hero era of films with Iron Man in 2008, the wide variety in genres that superhero movies can cover will keep them fresh for many years to come. Favreau said at a recent event, "If you stamp a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy as a 'superhero' film, then I think superhero movies are going to be around for a long time." He then added that the "swagger" of an independent film being captured in films like that give superhero movies a long life.
