According to director JJ Abrams, Harrison Ford breaking his ankle on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens gave fans a very different movie. But, according to director JJ Abrams, the injury didn't hamper the film. In fact, the mishap improved the film. Abrams said the chemistry between Solo and Rey was "contentious." Abrams used the time off during Ford's injury to to rewrite the relationship the leads. Abrams said "If Harrison Ford hadn't broken his ankle on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the production would have seen a very different final product."
