People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have always held controversial stances when it comes to films, including arguing that a monkey could hold a copyright. Recently, they have had two very different opinions on films that featured animals as main cast members. The 2012 movie Life of Pi heavily featured a real tiger. PETA's hidden cameras on the set showed the animal trainer whipping the tiger, leading PETA to call for a boycott of the film. But PETA is giving Jungle Book director Jon Favreau an award for innovation in film, the movie managed to star a bear, a tiger and several other animals that were made entirely through CGI.
