VIDEO : Kanye West Defends Interruption of Taylor Swift at 2009 MTV VMAs

Kanye West made headlines in 2009 for infamously interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards by taking the mic from her and stating, ""I'll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time!" He recently defended the interruption in an interview, when he claimed, "I had to fight every day for the rest of my life with the whole world turned against me for saying out loud what everyone else felt. But that's the job of the artist, of a true artist: not to be controlled by their finances, not to be controlled by perception, but only to be controlled by their truth."
