Zayn Malik's risky desicion to break away from One Direction paid off immensely. His new solo album 'Mind of Mine' mad Billboard 200 history after debuting at Number One in its first week. With 157,000 total album sales, Malik became the first U.K. male solo artist in history to debut at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with their first album. No UK male artist has topped the chart in their first week of album sales in general since George Michael achieved the feat with Faith in 1988. Mind of Mine did better than his former bands last album . One Direction peaked at Number Two with their first Zayn-less LP Made in the A.M back in November.
