As it turns out, the early reports of director Zach Snyder crafting a Seven Samurai style standalone movie set in the Star Wars universe were true. Disney and Lucasfilm confirmed the Batman v Superman director will be taking on a Star Wars movie. In 2013 Vulture reported that director Snyder had flown to Marin County to meet with Lucasfilm execs about a standalone Star Wars movie he wanted to develop and direct. This was while Snyder was in post-production on Man of Steel. The report says the movie will be based off of Akira Kurosawa?s 1954 classic Seven Samurai. A younger Yoda is rumored to appear in Snyder's anthology, which will feature Jedi characters and force powers.
