The beloved kids' show 'Thomas And Friends' is revamping the show to represent more diversity. Thomas the Choo-Choo will be meeting new friends, 14 to be exact, that will be tank engines from different parts of the world. For example, Thomas meets a new friend, Ashima, from India. While it seems like a great idea, some people have their doubts. Researcher Tracey Van Slyke says she is worried about the "execution" if trains are "only defined by cultural stereotypes, the result will be a destructive nod to diversity." Psychologist Dr. Aric Signman said that "children do not benefit from a lot of variety, new characters will make it difficult for children to invest in the story." While there are doubts, it is a step in the right direction. Teaching kids to accept diversity at a young age is crucial.
