David Bowie has always held a special place in the hearts of many fans no matter what phase he was going through. One particular interesting movement the late performer was involved in was the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Long-Haired Men. In 1964 David Bowie was then known as Davy Jones, a young pre-stardom 17 year old kid. BBC's Tonight show interviewed Bowie at the time presenting him as spokesperson for the hair movement. While it may seem silly, the group of guys were serious. David Jones, the founder and president of the group said, "It?s really for the protection of pop musicians and those who wear their hair long."
