VIDEO : 'Wicked' Surpasses 'The Lion King' and Reaches $1 Billion Mark

Producers of "Wicked" recently announced that the theatrical blockbuster has grossed over $1 billion on Broadway. While in good company with "The Lion King" and "The Phantom of the Opera," they got to the mark faster than either rival. Based on novelist Gregory Maguire's fanciful "Wizard of Oz" prequel The show took 12½ years to reach $1 billion after opening in 2003. Worldwide, the musical has accumulated nearly $4 billion in global sales and has been seen by nearly 50 million people.
