On Saturday while accepting an award for her support of the LGBT community, Kesha was moved to tears, citing "personal things" she is dealing with during a sexual assault case against her former music producer. In 2014, the 29-year-old pop singer sued Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, also known as Dr. Luke, claiming sexual assault and battery, with aims to invalidate contracts she had signed with him. He filed a countersuit, calling her allegations "defamatory" and claiming he was being extorted. Last month, a judge denied Kesha's request for a preliminary injunction. Her supporters have since rallied behind her, calling to "Free Kesha." In her speech to the audience, Kesha said "Don't let people scare and shame you into changing the things about yourself that make you unique," adding "those are the qualities that will make your life magical and special. Never deny yourself that."
