Star Wars: The Force Awakens proved that the sci-fi franchise was making huge efforts to move into the 21st century by putting diverse, talented actors in lead roles. A spin-off film for the series, Rogue One that arrives in December will star Forest Whitaker and Donnie Yen. But the film still has not included any obviously LGBT characters, even though J.J. Abrams has hinted that the universe would bring in such characters eventually. But Mark Hamill is now saying that Luke Skywalker may be gay, if his character's sexuality is explored. Though the character was originally written as heterosexual, Hamill says there nothing to stop the character from developing as homosexual if given the chance.
