When asked why Benicio del Toro said yes to appearing in Star Wars: Episode VIII he said, "They contacted me, they invited me to come to their dance...To do a movie in that world, the Star Wars world is a great opportunity to enjoy it with my daughter."
Although he didn't mention any spoilers, here is a rumor going around that Del Toro's character will be a bad bad man in the sequel which began shooting recently.
