The Oscars are pretty good at recognizing people who have made an outstanding contribution to the film industry. The Academy honors people who have won the adoration of filmmakers, generally managed to make a healthy return at the box office, and have made quality films as well. And Comic book god Stan Lee manages to check all of those boxes. Fans adore him, and of the recent top-grossing films, the majority of the superhero films that broken the box office lately feature characters created by Lee. But he's not just well loved and a solid box office bet, his characters forged new frontiers in the psychological development of the superhero. So maybe 2017 can finally be the year that Stan Lee gets his due.
