CBS has ordered a pilot based on the 2001 feature film "Training Day," which starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke and was directed by Antoine Fuqua from a script by David Ayer. The network has tapped Bill Paxton to star, in what's been described as a reimagining of the story that begins 15 years after the film left off, and revolves around an idealistic young African-American officer appointed to an elite division of the LAPD. Paxton will star as Frank Rourke, a veteran LAPD cop who heads up the Special Unit tasked with taking on the worst of LA's criminals, a recurring role which will mark the broadcast series debut for the movie star, best known for his iconic roles in "Aliens," "Apollo 13," and "Twister."
