In 2009, Kim Ledger, father of Heath Ledger, received the best support actor Oscar for his son. The Oscar was given to Heath posthumously for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight. Kim Ledger described the moment as "bittersweet." For now, the Oscar resides at the Western Australian Museum in Perth alongside other Heath Ledger memorabilia; however, the Oscar will eventually go to Heath and Michelle William's daughter, Matilda. Heath Ledger passed away in 2008 from an overdose of prescription medication.
