Iggy Pop paid tribute to his friend, David Bowie, at Carnegie Hall's Tibet House Benefit on Monday night. The rock star performed "Tonight," a song Bowie wrote that appeared on Pop's 1977 album Lust for Life and, later, on Bowie's own album, Tonight. (Bowie performed the song as a duet with Tina Turner.) Onstage, Pop was joined by Sharon Jones and harpist Lavinia Meijer. "It's a wonderful, elegant song with a deceptively simple lyric," he said. "And I think it's the right lyric for right now and for tonight." Iggy Pop also covered Bowie's "Jean Jeanie" with the Patti Smith Group.
