British cinematographer Douglas Slocombe passed away on February 22, 2016 at the age of 103. Slocombe has over 160 credits to his name, including the original Indiana Jones trilogy. He was nominated 11 times at the BAFTAs. He took home the Best Cinematography trophy on three occasions for The Servant, The Great Gatsby, and Julia.
Out of his impressive library of work, Slocombe will be fondly remembered for his collaborations with director Steven Spielberg. He shot certain scenes for Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and later filled the position of Director of Photography on the Indiana Jones trilogy. His final film was 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. in 1995 he won the British Society of Cinematographers? lifetime achievement award.
