"You're gonna kill yourself because you can't play trumpet anymore?"
IFC Films released a trailer on Monday for Born to Be Blue, which stars Ethan Hawke as legendary jazz trumpeter Chet Baker.
Written and directed by Robert Budreau, the film follows the musician late in his life, after years of fame and drug abuse have taken their toll. He stages a comeback, hoping to regain the success he first found when he became a icon in the 1950s.
The trailer previews Hawke's take on the tumultuous jazz legend ? including him singing the now-classic "My Funny Valentine" ? as well as the roles played by Carmen Ejogo and Callum Keith Rennie.
Born to Be Blue, a mix of factual and fictional events, hits theaters on March 25 and VOD on March 31.
