VIDEO : Halle Berry Talks Oscars And Diversity

Back in 2002, Actress Halle Berry was the first woman of color to win an Academy award for Best Actress. Her performance in Monster's Ball earned her said honor. However, 15 years later she is heartbroken with the current state of The Academy and their nominations. She spoke out in the 2016 Makers conference, and commented on how this lack of recognition isn't truthful to the American culture. She said, "I feel that when we live up to our responsibility in Hollywood and challenge ourselves to be truthful and tell the truth with our story telling, the people of color will be there in a real competitive way and it won't be about inclusion or diversity."
